Noferin(Candy and Nick Robertson) is a wife-and-husband team who love to create. From whimsical paintings, drawings, design and art direction, to writing and illustrating children’s books, Candy and Nick’s creations come in many forms. Their distinctive style of art and design has led them to exhibit in leading galleries through the USA, Canada and Australia. Their artwork and Pecanpals and Jibibuts designs have been featured in numerous publications such as Hello Kitty, Hello Art (Abrams), Pictoplasma, The Garden of Eye Candy, The Sourcebook of Contemporary Illustration (Collins Design), Dpi, Monument, Hi-Fructose and Juxtapoz; are sold in museums, galleries and pretty shops; and have also been featured alongside Hello Kitty, Hot Wheels and on TV commercials for Orville Redenbacher Popcorn and the NFL.

Candy and Nick live amongst tall trees, hidden valleys and treasure-filled beaches on the Mornington Peninsula, Australia. They make most of their creations in the cooler months.

Candy (artist, illustrator and designer) was born in the concrete jungle of Hong Kong to Chinese/Vietnamese and Indonesian parents. When she was 15, Candy moved to Sydney, Australia, having to learn a new language, new cultural attitudes and how to look after herself. After mastering G’day mate, Candy moved to Melbourne to study Visual Communication and Design at Monash University. Enjoying her new sense of direction, Candy won a scholarship in her Honors year and was acknowledged as one of Australia’s top 40 design graduates by Monument Magazine. Aside from painting, illustration and designing collectible figures, Candy has spent many years art directing and designing for NGOs such as WWF and Earth Hour, as well as numerous international water sports and scuba brands.

Candy loves to spend her weekends wondering how many more trees she can fit in her garden, and whether the neighbors will notice if she plants a few on their side of the fence.

Nick (writer and sculptor) was born in New Zealand to one of three possible fathers. When he was 2, Nick moved to Sydney, Australia, having to learn a new accent, a new national anthem and how to look after his mother. (Apparently he modeled himself after James James Morrison Morrison Weatherby George Dupree.) After finishing high school with absolutely no idea what to do with himself, Nick moved from the beautiful beaches of Sydney to a small country town many hours inland. It was horrible. It was hot and dusty and the only job he could get was at a beef abattoir earning below minimum wage to test whether germs were having parties where they shouldn’t, and whether the meat had the right amount of fat in it or not. When the nightmares started, Nick moved to Melbourne and went through a string of more uninspiring jobs before meeting up with his very good (and pretty) friend from high school, who funnily enough, had recently moved to Melbourne to study something to do with making pretty pictures and interesting statements. They went on many walks together, each too nervous to say the words, but after mistaking a rat for a penguin and finding his reading of the BFG life-changing, the girl mumbled something starting with L and he knew he had found the love of his life.

Nick is obsessed with buying trees.
