About the Artist
Nellie Le is an artist & illustrator from the suburbs of Los Angeles. She graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). After a couple of years of designing for consumer products and apparel, she decided to take a leap of faith into pursuing her longtime dream of being an artist.
She grew up watching mid-century Disney shorts and the work of Chuck Jones, which has a huge influence on her work. She finds joy in the mundane, which is reflected in her depictions of both the natural and supernatural world. Her love of cats, wildlife, and food are sprinkled throughout all of her work. Her color palette is influenced by the colors from her childhood growing up in the late 80s—the 90s.
She worked briefly under Amanda Visell and Michelle Valigura, which played a pivotal role in her development as an artist. She often describes it as “The best job (working for another person) she’s ever had!”. Her experience working with them affirmed art as the thing she wants to do for the rest of her life…and there really isn’t anything else she’d rather be doing.
